About the award
Czechitas Thesis Award 2020 for the best IT bachelor thesis is open for all girls who have successfully defended their BA theses on an IT-related topic in the past year. The competition aims at drawing attention to talented girls passionate about IT, at helping them bring their projects to life with the help of experts from the field, and last but not least, at showing other girls and women the interesting topics these girls devote themselves to.
How does it work?
In the early 2020, we will receive applications. This year, the Czechitas Thesis Award is open for participants from the whole republic, with the two regions of Bohemia and Moravia. The jury, consisting of representatives of the partner companies and Czechitas, will choose 4 finalists from each region. These girls will then participate in approx. 3-week-long mentoring program with the dedicated partners in Prague and Brno.
During this mentoring program, the student and the mentor will meet several times. The program aims at developing the ideas originating in the BA thesis and to preparations for the final presentation.
The competition will end with a gala evening, where the students present their projects (including the outcomes of the mentoring program) and the jury will choose the winners.
The winners of 2017
In 2017, the pilot run of Czechitas Thesis Award took place in Brno. Together with our partners, we have chosen 6 finalists out of the competing theses. These went through the mentoring program and in early May, they presented their projects at the gala, focusing on the improvements and practical use of their projects. The jury then chose 3 winners:
Martina Krasnayová’s thesis Motion Game for Newron Application received the Czechitas Thesis Award for social impact.
Karolína Trachtová’s thesis Analysis of non-coding RNAs and their role in the biology of malignant B cells received the Czechitas Thesis Award for scientific impact.
Petra Veselá’s thesis Software Generator of Test Signals for Acoustic Measurements received the Czechitas Thesis Award for the clearest signal.
