For this year’s celebration, the UN International Telecommunication Union asked Czechitas to serve as the collaborative partner for the European region celebrations.
This year’s Girls in ICT theme is “Digital Skills for Life”, which was chosen specifically by the young people who are active in the ITU’s global stakeholder community.
The Girls in ICT Day Europe event took place online 27 April 2023. Featured speakers from Czechitas included Barbora Bühnová, Product and Tech Mentor and Co-founding & Governing Board Member; Olga Maximová, Head of Development; and Lucie Riederová, Ambassador and Lecturer. Live and recorded
As the collaborative partner, Czechitas had a prominent role in the European event format, program agenda, speaker coordination, and stakeholder outreach among UN stakeholders in the public, private, NGO, and academic sectors.
Girls in ICT Europe 2023 was a prestigious opportunity extended to Czechitas as the 2022 EQUALS in Tech Award recipient in the Skills category. This event reinforced the recognition of Czechitas as a trusted and credible social impact institution in the Czech Republic and across Europe.
The ITU Regional Office for Europe will continue to spotlight the important work of organizations and programs supporting ICT skills development for girls and young women year round. All interested organizations are encouraged to share their work online using the #GirlsinICT hashtag. ITU also provides free materials and resources for organization to plan and promote events throughout the year.
